Your Book Now button is leaking bookings

If Book Now sends guests off your domain, you’re paying OTAs 15–20% for nothing. A 20-second check for hotels in Thailand and how to take those bookings back.

Hotel Website Development Guide in Thailand

Do this before you scroll. Open your hotel website on your phone. Tap Book Now. If checkout leaves your domain for Agoda, Booking.com or Expedia, that button is leaking bookings. Every one of those reservations costs you 15–20% off the top. Send us the URL and we’ll tell you what’s leaking, and whether the fix is a patch or a rebuild.

A hotel website’s real job isn’t to look nice. It’s to take some of that business back. Most hotel and resort websites in Thailand still don’t. They’re a gallery, a location map and a Book Now button that redirects to an OTA listing instead of an actual reservation. Here’s what actually earns direct bookings, and what we fix when it doesn’t.

A booking engine that actually works, not a redirect

The single biggest gap on most hotel websites is the booking flow itself. If Book Now sends a guest away to a third-party listing, you’ve just handed that booking, and the commission on it, straight back to the OTA you were trying to compete with. A real direct booking engine shows live rate calendars, room selection and availability on your own site, and takes payment there too, with a checkout that works cleanly on mobile, since most hotel searches in Thailand now happen on a phone, often from a guest already traveling.

PMS and front office that stay in sync

A booking engine that isn’t connected to your actual property management system is a liability. Without that connection, a room booked on your website and a room booked through an OTA can both get assigned at once, and someone finds out at check-in. Proper PMS and front office integration keeps your website, your desk and your channel inventory synced in real time, so a booking anywhere updates availability everywhere. It also opens up what a static site can’t do on its own: dynamic pricing that adjusts to occupancy and season, real-time housekeeping status so front office always knows which rooms are actually ready, and guest communication, confirmations, digital registration, post-stay follow-ups, that happens automatically instead of manually. If your current PMS already exists, we wire the site into it. If it doesn’t, we build the booking and FO stack so the website and the desk are one system.

OTA sync that protects your direct channel, not fights it

Going direct doesn’t mean abandoning Agoda, Booking.com or Expedia. They still bring genuine volume, especially for international travelers researching Thailand for the first time. What matters is that your channel manager keeps rates and availability synced automatically across all of it, so a booking on one platform instantly closes that inventory everywhere else. Manually updating three or four platforms by hand is exactly where double bookings and rate mismatches come from.

Hosting, email and security that can take a hotel load

A hotel website has a different traffic pattern than most business sites. It needs to hold up during a flash sale, a peak booking season, or a sudden spike after a listing goes up on a travel site, and it needs to be fast for a guest browsing on hotel Wi-Fi in another country. Shared hosting buckles under exactly that kind of load. Managed cloud hosting keeps the site fast and available, with daily backups, a web application firewall, uptime monitoring and SSL handled without you thinking about it. That matters even more here, since a hotel website is handling guest payment details and personal data through its own booking engine, not passing that off to an OTA. If you’re taking cards on-site, PCI-DSS and a security audit belong in the same conversation, not as an afterthought.

Same goes for how the property actually writes to guests. A Gmail address on a five-star rate confirmation looks cheap and gets buried. We set up professional hotel email on your domain, migrate the old inboxes, and keep it working across the front desk and reservations team.

Findable by the people actually searching

None of the above matters if travelers can’t find the site in the first place. Hotel schema markup, a properly set up Google Business Profile, and page structure built around how people actually search, “boutique hotel Bangkok riverside,” “resort near Chiang Mai old city,” matters more for hospitality than almost any other industry, since so much of hotel search starts as a location-specific query rather than a brand search.

What this looks like in practice

This is live at Leston Hotel on Sukhumvit 22 in Bangkok. The site runs in English, Thai, Chinese and Japanese, with hotel schema so search actually treats it as a hotel, and Book Now opens a live rate calendar instead of Agoda. Next job is keeping checkout on the hotel’s own domain. If yours still dumps to an OTA, that’s the leak.

If the site already exists and the Book Now button is the problem, we don’t start by throwing it out. Repair, redesign and ongoing maintenance are on the table. We’ll tell you which one you actually need.

How we work with hotels in Thailand

At Sierra IT Group we build and fix the stack hotels actually run: the hotel website, custom booking engines, PMS and front office, managed hosting and professional email, as one connected system, not three vendors that don’t talk to each other. Fixed price, clear timeline, from the start.

We work with hotels, boutique properties, resort groups and serviced apartments in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Pattaya. If your Book Now button still points at an OTA, send us the URL. We’ll show you what a direct booking channel looks like, or just fix the one you’ve got.
